Circus Theme B-day Party-Part 1!

My niece's birthday is coming up and of course the event planner in me couldn't wait to make a huge party about it. We browsed thru "Hostess with the Mostess",my favorite events website, for some inspiration and to choose the theme. My sister in law didn't want anything too girly so she ended up deciding on a circus theme.

I suggested something really modern and cool so I had my cousin, who is a graphic designer and an architect, design the invitation so we could plan our decorations around it. She came up with the cutest invitation.

Next thing we decided was on how we wanted to decorate. I suggested a candy bar with popcorn, candy apples and finger food and lot of minimalist animal figures to decorate the walls. She wanted to turn the house into pretty much a real circus so we designed the "stage" if you may call it. She also wanted a photo booth where kids could take their pictures as a memory of the party so she decided on a ticket booth which turned out great with the help of our architect cousin.

For entertainment she got a few games that kids would usually play in a  circus or a carnival like throwing the ball thru the clowns nose or throwing the hoop thru the cone.

Deciding the food was easy since there are not a lot of options of things served in a circus. My sister in law loved it because she would only have to do hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch. Pretty easy and inexpensive huh? That's the good thing about theme parties, it kind of limits the food choices and usually makes it a bit easier.

One of my favorite parts was designing my niece's birthday costume. I chose a ringmaster costume which I think turned out great. I still haven't tried it on her but I'm hoping it will fit! She's so adorable and pretty I could put anything on her and she'd rock it!

Well anyways, next week I'll post some cute pictures of the birthday which I'm sure will turn out great!
